Preservation New Jersey’s Announces The 10 Most Endangered Historic Places Program

May 13, 2026 at 6:00 pm at the Monmouth Boat Club

This is a friendly reminder to join Preservation New Jersey for the 2026 10 Most Endangered Historic Places Program announcement, a signature annual event highlighting New Jersey’s most at-risk historic, architectural, cultural, and archaeological sites.

The 2026 year’s program will share the stories behind the nominations, highlight ongoing preservation efforts, and reflect on both the successes and challenges of saving these irreplaceable places. Attendees will also hear directly from site stewards and community advocates working to protect these landmarks.

Cherry Blossom Run/Walk Raises Over 60k to Support Cancer Care

On Sunday, April 26, The Jefferson Health Foundation – New Jersey,  hosted 333 participants and raised over $60,000 at the inaugural Cherry Blossom Run/Walk fundraiser benefiting the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Centers in New Jersey, helping to expand access to advanced cancer care close to home in Cherry Hill and Washington Township.

Held at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital, Cherry Blossom Run/Walk participants, made up of individuals, families, teams and four-legged companions, either ran in a 5K or walked a 1-mile course.

“This event brought our mission to life in a visible and meaningful way,” says Tamara LaCouture, MD, East Region Chief of Cancer Services. “Every step taken supported patients who are navigating cancer with strength and resilience.”

DNREC Reminds Residents and Visitors Delaware’s Open Burning Ban Begins May 1

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control reminds residents and visitors to the First State that Delaware’s annual open burning ban takes effect Thursday, May 1 and continues through Sept. 30 and is in place to help protect air quality during what’s also known as the ozone season.

During the statewide ban, most outdoor burning is not allowed. Cooking fires, recreational campfires and ceremonial bonfires are still permitted year-round when they use firewood, charcoal, propane, or natural gas.

Camden Police Department Members to be Given Four Tickets to Phillies Game

Camden Police Department members and their families will get to watch the Philadelphia Phillies play this summer thanks to a generous donation of the Norcross Foundation and The Cooper Foundation. Members of the Camden Police Department will be given four (4) tickets to one of four (4) Phillies home games at Citizens Bank Park. The tickets will be distributed on a first come basis. The Norcross and Cooper Foundations are donating $90,000 to the Camden County Police Foundation for the purchase of the tickets.

Wanted: Suspects for Homicide in the 2nd District

The Philadelphia Police Department Homicide Unit is looking to identify the two male suspects, depicted in the following surveillance video excerpts, as part of an ongoing investigation into a homicide, that occurred on October 11th, 2025, at about 3:54 PM in the 1700 block of Teesdale Street. The two suspects were with a group of juveniles that may have been attending Northeast High School.

Parks Department to Offer Kayaking 101 Class For Residents

 This summer, as part as a multistate effort to provide safe, affordable kayak instruction, the Camden County Parks Department will host a Kayaking 101 class at Newton Lake Park on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., kicking off National Safe Boating Week.

This national, volunteer-led initiative offers low-cost kayaking instruction at more than 40 locations across eight states, with Camden County serving as the only site in New Jersey. The program is designed to introduce beginners to paddling in a safe and accessible environment.

Cooley Fleisher marks 5,000 grocery deliveries with Food Bank, DoorDash

Today, Commissioner Jennifer Cooley Fleisher joined Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald, Assemblywoman Heather Simmons, the Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ), and DoorDash to commemorate 5,000 home deliveries in Southern New Jersey through Project DASH.

“This unique partnership between the Food Bank of South Jersey and DoorDash helps ensure that residents throughout Camden County have reliable access to nutritious food,” said Commissioner Cooley Fleisher. “The Board of Commissioners extends its deepest gratitude to FBSJ and DoorDash and congratulates them on this impressive milestone.”

Gloucester Catholic Fr. Sullivan Alumni Golf Tournament June 15th

This year’s tournament will be held at the Pitman Golf Club on Monday June 15th. Registration will begin at 12 noon. A putting contest will precede the 1:30 shotgun start.
