Deptford Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run of Bicyclist

Iqrar Ahmad, 18, of Deptford, has been charged with leaving the scene  of a fatal crash after allegedly striking a bicyclist Monday night on Delsea Drive,  Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns announced. 

According to documents filed in this case: 

Deptford Township Police responded shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday to a report of a  crash involving a bicyclist. The caller reported striking the bicyclist with their vehicle,  causing the bicyclist to fall into the roadway, where they were then struck by a second  vehicle. The second vehicle continued north on Delsea Drive. A witness reported the  vehicle briefly stopped in the roadway before leaving the area.

Matthew Craig DeGailler, 40

Matthew Craig DeGailler, known lovingly to all as Matt, was born on December 20, 1986, in Lady of Lords, and he passed from this world on March 30, 2026, in Camden, New Jersey, leaving behind a life marked by devotion, service, and a heart that gave freely to all who knew him.

Matt was a son, a brother, an uncle, a grandson, a nephew, and a friend whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those around him. He was the beloved son of Louis Craig DeGailler and his stepmother, Kimberly DeGailler, and he was also cherished by his stepfather, Joseph Marino. He was preceded in death by his late mother, Kristine DeGailler, and his late grandfather, Tom Kennedy, whose memories remained ever dear within the family. He is survived by his uncle, Tom Kennedy, his living grandparents, Marge Kennedy, Louis DeGailler, and Joann DeGailler, his brothers, Craig DeGailler and his wife Jen Myers, Jason Houser and his wife Courtney, and Sean Houser, and his sister, Heather Menardi and her husband Den. Matt held his niece and nephew, Savannah and Zachary, in the deepest affection, and he loved them with all his heart.

FSIS Issues Public Health Alert For Frozen, Dinosaur-Shaped, Ready-To-Eat Chicken Nuggets Due To Traces Of Lead

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for frozen, dinosaur-shaped, ready-to-eat chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with unsafe levels of lead. A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase. However, FSIS is concerned that some product may still be in consumers’ freezers.

Turkey Hunting Season to Offer an Extra Day

Delaware’s upcoming spring turkey hunting season will run from April 10 through May 11 this year, with a special two-day youth and non-ambulatory hunt Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5 starting the season, DNREC announced. Hunters who have a permit for Segment D will get an additional day (Sunday, May 11) to hunt this season following a recent regulatory change to turkey season dates.

Preservation New Jersey is proud to announce the release of the second video in its “10 Most Impact” series, which highlights the real-world outcomes of the organization’s 10 Most Endangered Historic Places Program. This installment focuses on Camp Evans, a World War I Marconi Station and World War II radar laboratory, known for groundbreaking scientific and technological innovation in New Jersey.

The video explores how Camp Evans, once a critical U.S. Army Signal Corps facility and later a hub for cutting-edge communications research, faced threats of neglect and deterioration. Take A Kid Fishing! Program Returns

DNREC will offer youth fishing opportunities in each county in early April commemorating and celebrating Earth Month. The angling outings are to be put on by educators from DNREC’s Aquatic Resources Education Center through the Take A Kid Fishing! program. One youth fishing event will be offered in each county during the first full week of April to coincide with many schools’ annual spring break.

Priya Jain sworn in as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation

New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced that Priya Jain was sworn-in today as New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner, making her the 21st Chief Executive of the Department. The full New Jersey State Senate unanimously confirmed her nomination on March 23.

Governor Sherrill nominated Commissioner Jain on January 19, 2026, and she has served in an acting capacity since then. She will continue her work overseeing the Department that manages the state’s multi-faceted transportation network. The Commissioner of NJDOT also serves as Chair of New Jersey Transit, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, and the South Jersey Transportation Authority.

Franklin Fountain Debuts Ice Cream Flights, Pints, and 26 New Small-Batch Flavors

Philadelphia, PA – Philadelphia’s award-winning 1900s-inspired ice cream parlor and soda shop has exciting news heading into spring and summer season. The Franklin Fountain, located on Confectionery Row at 116 Market Street in Old City, announces a blitz of super-limited-edition, experimental new ice cream flavors. Starting in April, and each month moving forward, ice cream lovers are invited to try six new flavors monthly: four will be sold as an ice cream flight, and two additional flavors will debut in pints. These six new monthly flavors will not be available by the scoop. They will be sold on a first come first serve basis. For the first month, look for 15 Charcuterie Board Flights and 32 Caramelized Garlic Toffee Pints to debut Friday, April 3rd at 11:00am, with 32 Elderberry Goat Cheese Pints to debut on Friday, April 17th at 11am.
