Reminder for the week: Wildlife area visitors encouraged to know and follow rules

DOVER (Oct. 30, 2015) – To achieve public compliance through education and enforcement actions that help conserve Delaware’s fish and wildlife resources and ensure safe boating and public safety, DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers between Oct. 19-25 made 1,165 contacts with anglers, boaters, hunters and the general public, including 104 vessel boardings for boating safety and fishing regulation compliance checks. Officers responded to 52 complaints and issued 51 citations, seven of which were related to the C&D Canal Conservation Area and associated recreational trail, where there is an increased Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police presence.

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Winslow Police Chief Robert Stimelski reported a man was wounded in a shooting last night.

Winslow Police responded at approximately 7:53 p.m. on Thursday to the unit block of Melwood Court in the Manor Hall 2 development for a report of a gunshot victim.

Uber’s surge pricing doesn’t necessarily increase the availability of rides. It just makes them more expensive.

Uber has long stirred controversy and consternation over the higher \”surge\” prices it charges at peak times. The company has always said the higher prices actually help passengers by encouraging more drivers to get on the road. But computer scientists from Northeastern University have found that higher prices don’t necessarily result in more drivers.

Daniel J. Scavette, on October 29, 2015, of Runnemede. Age 65.

Beloved husband for 22 years of Teresa (nee Venneri). Devoted father of Aimee and the late Danielle Scavette and step-father of Tracy Gillotte. Loving grandpop of Lyla and Evan. Loving son of Irene V. (nee Kowalik) and the late Daniel P. Scavette. Dear brother of Michael, Bob (Sharon), and Gary (Carman) Scavette. Also survived by man’s best friends, Skipper and Sookie, and many nieces and nephews.

Dan was the owner and President of Daniel’s Custom Draperies, Inc. in Runnemede. He was an avid runner and enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating with his family.

There will be a viewing from 9 to 11am Saturday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Funeral service 11am at the funeral home.

Interment New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife is conducting this 20 minute on-line survey to obtain angler feedback concerning warmwater/coolwater fishing experiences in New Jersey. The information collected will be used to guide future management and regulation decisions. 

Gloucester Township PD release

Gloucester Township Police Crime Stoppers: A masked heavy set white male, wearing a black and orange \”TBAA Soccer\” winter jacket, gray sweat pants, black gloves, and displaying a knife and brass knuckles, demanded and stole currency, Newport Cigarettes, and Zig Zag Cigars from the store clerk. The clerk claimed the suspect had a soft voice while speaking, and continually stated he didn’t want any problems.

On October 28, 2015 at approximately 9:08 AM, the Gloucester Township Police Department received a call from the Camden County College Public Safety Department who advised the Police Department that a threat to the school was made via email.
