We are happy to announce that after much deliberation, and considering all factors, the Gloucester City Food Trucks and Fireworks event WILL go off as scheduled. With the forecast of oppressive heat and humidity predicted for tomorrow and throughout the weekend, the GC Celebrations Committee together with our Office of Emergency Management and Mayor and Council have had long discussions about whether or not to hold tomorrow’s event. Please be assured that we took all factors into consideration.

We sure are strange sometimes. Most of the time, we make sense. We’re “sensible” and we do things for a reason. But there are times when we do things that make no sense at all, and we don’t care.

  Just take pocketknives, for instance. Most men wouldn’t leave the house without one. I sure wouldn’t. In fact, I’ll bet if you stopped 10 men in business suits on the sidewalk in New York City or London and asked them to turn their pockets out for you, at least eight of them would be carrying a pocketknife. And one of them would be bound to call the police because of your weird request.

Virtua Names Two Senior VP Physicians

 Virtua Health, South Jersey’s largest health system, has appointed two accomplished physicians to senior vice president roles. Drs. Eric Sztejman and Sam Weiner will expand their leadership roles across the not-for-profit health system, while continuing to provide expert care to their patients.

Eric Sztejman, MDMMM, is now senior vice president of acute care services. In this role, he partners with clinical and administrative leaders to advance quality outcomes, strengthen operational performance, and support the ongoing expansion and evolution of acute care offerings across the health system.

2026/27 Delaware Hunting and Trapping Guide Now Available

Delaware hunters and trappers have new rules to know before their seasons begin this year. The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has released the 2026/27 Delaware Hunting & Trapping Guide, which is now available at participating license agents statewide, at the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife’s licensing desk in Dover and on the de.gov/hunting webpage. Key changes this year include expanded Sunday hunting for all game species and an update on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), which was recently detected in Delaware.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a code orange air quality alert Wednesday for Southwestern New Jersey. A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children…people suffering from asthma… heart disease or other lung diseases…and the elderly.
