Manayunk is Going Big This Holiday Season

Schumer’s Shutdown Comes to an End

Hallelujah, hallelujah – after 43 days of the Schumer Shutdown, the government is not finally open again. 43 days of parks and museums being closed, government services being highly limited, air traffic controllers, TSA agents, and other federal workers not being paid, and flights being delayed and canceled, is finally over after the Democrats decided to end their gigantic temper tantrum.

We passed the legislation to end the Schumer Shutdown out of the Senate on Monday night, and the House voted for its passage on Wednesday so President Trump could sign it into law. Ending the longest shutdown in American history.

Shelby Jean Turner, 87, of Audubon Park

Peacefully on November 13, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. A longtime resident of Audubon Park, NJ, Shelby was 87.

Beloved wife of 58 years to the late Richard E. Turner. Loving mother of Shari Larsen, Edward A. (Debbie) Turner and the late Shelby Denise Davidson. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Brandon (Melissa), Ryan, Michael, Daniel (Cynthia), Brian (Rachel) and Rebecca (James) and 14 great grandchildren: Andru, Shelby, Trevor, Corey, Oliver, Deacon, Richard, Ethan, Austin, Elliott, Everett, Lucy, Bennett and Melody. Sister of the late Patricia (the late Joseph) Grabowski and the late David (Michelle) Hoard. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Shelby was born in Florence, AL and spent her early childhood years there. Family was everything to her, especially her time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shelby was a 25 year employee with Virtua Hospital and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a frequent traveler, spending many vacations in tropical locations. She was also an avid movie goer and loved the casinos.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, November 17, 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment private.

Camden County roadwork projects

Several roadway projects will be underway across Camden County during the week of November 17 to November 21.

“Motorists should plan ahead to take alternate routes and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Also, remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris.”

William J. Hagan, 75, of Gloucester City

Bill passed away peacefully at home with his loving family. He was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 43 years, Regina and his parents, Jane & Duncan Hagan. He is survived by his children, Susan Swayne (Jerome), William J. Hagan, Jr., & Marie Tobias (George); grandchildren, Samantha Swayne, Joseph Repici, III (Chloe), William J. Hagan, III (Kieleigh), Alexis Quinter (Nick), George Tobias (Jenna), Jessica & Brittany Tobias; great-grandchildren, Mason Teixeira, Carter Collins, Ella Wall, Braxton & Paisley Tobias.

Bill’s siblings are Patricia A. Dick (late Millard), Barbara Wenner (late Gary), Duncan “Buck” Hagan (Jessie) and his twin brother and best buddy; Joseph Hagan (Ruth), brother-in-law Edward Liebrand (Pat), sister-in-law Joan Gugel (Larry) & Maryanne Liebrand. Bill had many nephews, nieces, cousins & friends he was close to.

Kowalczyk Scores Twice but #13 Rowan Field Hockey Falls Short to #17 Lynchburg

GLASSBORO, NJ – Sydney Kowalczyk had two goals but the rally by #13 Rowan fell short as #17 Lynchburg held on for a 3-2 win in the First Round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship. Rowan, which won its fifth consecutive NJAC Championship, ends the year with a 16-6 record.

Lynchburg built up a 3-0 lead with all of its goals in the second quarter. Allie Freeman scored first at 16:43, assisted by Khanyisile Mzizi, and the Mzizi scored the next two, with the first at 24:16 and the third just five minutes later.

Rowan got on the board in the third quarter as senior Tess Herman took the initial shot and the Kowalczyk collected the loose ball in front and swept it in at 34:00.

Opening Friday, November28th through February23rd at Cooper River Park, near the corner of Cuthbert Blvd. and Park Avenue.
