Road improvements at the intersection of Haddon Avenue and Cuthbert Bouleveard in Collingswood and Haddon Township are scheduled to begin today, September 21. This work is the initial phase of Camden County’s $3.5 million Haddon Avenue Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project which includes traffic signal improvements along Haddon Avenue at its intersections with Collings Avenue, Cuthbert Boulevard, Crystal Lake Avenue and Maple Avenue as well as improvements to various pedestrian facilities.
“Every resident should be able to walk through their community safely, whether they are walking to work, listing a local business, or enjoying our green spaces,” said Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. “These improvements will make Haddon Avenue safer and more accessible for pedestrians while also improving the overall safety of this heavily traveled corridor.”
As part of the initial phase, work on Haddon Avenue will take place between Strawbridge Avenue to Bryant Avenue. Daily lane closures are expected Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately six to eight weeks. Certain turning movements may also be restricted and detoured periodically during construction.
The remaining stages of construction will not begin until Spring 2027. The project is being completed by Camden County with support from Collingswood and Haddon Township.
The Camden County Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining over 1,200 miles of county roadway, over 200 bridges and several dams. They are dedicated to making our area safer for motorists and pedestrians through county highway construction projects and road maintenance, including pothole repairs, street sweeping, grass cutting and storm drainage upkeep. The Public Works Department is located in Lindenwold where personnel are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to serve the residents of Camden County.
